Feed The Blob
A downloadable game for Windows
Made for GMTK Game Jam 2024 for the theme "Built to Scale"
Premise:
You are a science experiment (The Blob) that has escaped its containment and, now free, The Blob's insatiable hunger drives it to eat everything in the street it can find. But watch out! Other experiments have escaped and are hunting you down.
Eat as many barrels and crates you can find in the street and survive the other hungry experiments for as long as possible!
Controls:
WASD - Movement
Space - Jump
Escape - Quit Game
Mouse - Move camera
For us, this was essentially "baby's first Unreal game" as well as the second game we've ever made. So, while it was a fantastic learning experience and we're proud of how much progress we made, we DEFINITELY ran into a bunch of snags.
It's still a working game, but it's missing some features and polish that would have otherwise been in a completed product. All the same, we wanted to submit something for our efforts, so apologies for any bugs or other performance issues!
Known Issues:
- No start screen
- No sound/music
- Player and enemy models missing, Unreal shapes used instead (Enemy = Cube, Player = Sphere)
- Missing textures
- Missing animations
- Enemies can get stuck on the environment and immediately lose the will to live
- Collectibles sometimes spawn in areas player can't get to
- If player dies with a score of 0, score will not show on game over screen.

Sorry for the confusing title, I'm sure there was a way to give it a name in Unreal but I couldn't find it in time. :P We'll hopefully fix this after voting for the Game Jam ends.
